Methodology
- We collect data from open sources, cooperate with partners to share their materials, and interview eyewitnesses according to protocols for documenting war crimes or acts of aggression.
- The information that enters the Archive is tagged. Data from open sources is automatically translated into English and analysed based on tags. Partner materials that are systematised by the Archive are tagged manually by the analysts. We use the classification of war crimes under the Rome Statute, as well as our own system of tagging information.
- The organised data is securely stored in the Archive. We take care to preserve data integrity, keep original materials and create backup copies. We anonymise respondents' data for personal security reasons.
- When looking up information, the Archive users can find materials by time and place using keywords and data on the method of shooting, if such data is stored. With the help of the open source data aggregator, we can analyse a certain selection of materials by already developed tags or by keywords created for a particular project. The collection system helps to save the requested materials and, for open source data, export them.
- We encourage analysts to use the Archive for their own research and to create case studies that can become a public result of cooperation with interested organisations.
